Copywriter School: online training for wannabe copywriters
You’re tired of dreading the school holidays. You’re sick of trying to shoehorn thirteen weeks of school break into five weeks’ annual leave. You long to spend the summer enjoying your children rather than farming them out to clubs they’ll hate, or relatives that you’ve already been asking too much of.
You want to create a work life that works for you. One in which you dictate your own hours, decide where you’re going to work, and for how long. A work life that better suits your personality, your health needs, your location.
You’ve always loved writing. You think copywriting could be the answer…
… I think so too.
Your life as a copywriter
As a freelance copywriter:
- you are in control of your own work schedule.
- you decide when and where you work.
- you choose how much holiday you take, and when you take it.
- you’re free to juggle your workload if you need to stay at home with your poorly kid
- … or to take your pooch to the vet.
- no more commute.
- no more pointless meetings that suck the joy and time out of your – already too-busy – day.
- no more asking anyone else’s permission to put your family, your health, your life – first.
You’ll be your own boss. Get your power back. And your freedom.

I’ve been working as a copywriter for ten years. I’m also mum to two young kids (6 and 7).
I work in school hours, term-time only. That means I get to do the school run every day, host the play dates my kids want to have, turn up to every sports day, nativity play, school fete, whatever, without having to ask anyone else’s permission.
I find working this way a huge relief. Since having kids, I’ve discovered I’m a peace-and-quiet loving introvert. I don’t get much of that when the family are around, but I do enjoy the calm of working from home when they’re not. And on those days when I do crave company, I just take my laptop to a local coffee shop.

Written for busy people
I’m a busy mum. I know how crazy and unpredictable family life can be, so I’ve made this course achievable and enjoyable, as well as effective, breaking the learning down into manageable chunks.
We’ll start at a gentle pace and gather momentum as I teach you my tricks for working smart with the time you’ve got.
The course is self-paced. You’ll get a new lesson each week for the first 12 weeks, but it’s up to you how quickly you work through the material.
We’ll take a nice, long break over Christmas and then you’ll have a further four weeks of dedicated support from me at the end of the course, while you write your three pieces of client work and get your portfolio together. I’ll give you personalised feedback and edits of your copy, and be on hand to answer any and all of your questions.
Get the support you need
Aside from all the practical training on how to write for businesses, I’ll help you with the confidence and mindset stuff that is likely to come up as you start your new journey.
I’ll be your coach, your mentor, and your biggest cheerleader as you grow your skills and your future.
We’ll do this together – you, me, and the small group of fellow trainees who’ll be your first colleagues.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is copywriting anyway?
We’ll look into this in detail during the course. But for now, I’ll describe copywriting as writing words for businesses. It’s about communicating with clients and customers. So that could be through email, on a website, on social media, or in print. It’s about crafting the right words to deliver powerful messages, connect with customers and spread awareness of the amazing businesses your clients want to promote.
Will you teach me English?
No. Although we’ll be looking at best practices around writing English copy, this course won’t teach you the basics of writing in the English language. It’s assumed that you have an excellent command of the English language before you start this course.
What’s the workload like?
In the early weeks, expect tasks to take an hour or two per week. We’ll gradually build up to writing one piece of copy per week towards the end of the course. I’ll give you all the support you need to write productively and use your time efficiently. The aim is to get you writing great copy quickly by the end of the course – it’s how you’ll make this career work best for you.
Can you guarantee me a job at the end of the course?
I wish I could, but I can do the next best thing – which is to teach you all the skills I’ve learned over the last ten years as a copywriter, give you the opportunity to write real copy for three real businesses and help you set up your portfolio so you’ll be up and running at the end of the course.
Will you find the businesses for me to write for?
Learning to deal with clients and find out exactly what they need from their copy is an integral part of the course. You’ll find one or two businesses for yourself that want to serve as your test clients. I’ll be on hand to help you do an excellent job with their copy.
Will this course help me write copy for my own small business?
If you’ve got a small business and would like training in how to write your own copy, you might be interested in my copy courses for indie business and creatives. Please visit this page for more information.
Suzy – I’ve got a question. Can I get in touch with you?
Of course, my lovely. If you’ve got anything you’d like to ask about this course, please send me an email and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
